Over the years, it became evident that yearly missions were not enough to fulfill the health care needs of the villages. They needed a year-round clinic, fully staffed with trained people and supplies. To manage and sustain such a vision, Mountain of Hope was founded in 1998. Through Mountain of Hope–a non-profit corporation*–funds were raise to build a permanent clinic on land donated by the community.
Clinica Montana de Esperenza
This modern, 4,000 square foot clinic was opened in March 2001. The clinic houses two dental operatories, 3 medical exam rooms, emergency room, birthing room, pharmacy, plus an apartment for a full time nurse. The clinic also features the only X-ray facility in the area. Today, nearly 25,000 people from 25 neighboring villages can walk to the clinic and receive the medical, vision and veterinary care they need, 7 days a week.
Rather than just show up once a year, Mountain of Hope is equipping the villagers with knowledge and supplies to sustain the work their communities so desperately need.
